Wedding Weight loss – Tips and Tricks
0Many brides decide they are going to lose weight especially for their big day however planning a wedding can be a busy and stressful time and our good plans soon go to the back of our minds (what with wedding favours, seating plans and chair covers taking over). Here at Your wedding Pro we decided to get together a list of top tips and helpful apps to help you get back on track with your pre wedding weight loss goals all.
Food and Drink
Swap Tea and Coffee for herbal teas – Just cutting out the milk and sugar from your daily cuppa can really help with losing weight. There are a great variety of herbal and fruit teas available in supermarkets now and most are only about 2 calories per cup.
Drink more water – many people mistake being thirsty for being hungry so it is important to drink lots of water daily (the recommended daily intake is about 2 litres). Drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before a meal will not only stop you over eating but will also help aid digestion plus water is fantastic for flushing out impurities and improving the quality of your skin.
Helpful App – Water Your Body This App calculates how much water a day you should be drinking and will send you reminders throughout the day to make sure you are drinking your target amount.
Eat slowly – It seems pretty simple but the faster you eat means the less time for the food to get to your stomach and tell you that you are full. A good idea is to make sure you chew your food slowly and put down your knife and fork between mouthfuls.
Eat less– Smaller portions obviously mean less calories, use a smaller plate for your meals or try to leave 1/10 of every meal that you would usually eat still on the plate. Before you indulge in that slice of cake ask yourself, am I really hungry or will I regret eating this after?
Eat Healthier– Joining a slimming club like weight watchers or slimming world can get real results if you really are serious about getting some weight off. You don’t have to join a slimming group to get healthy though, just making simple choices can make lots of difference like grilling food instead of frying.
Helpful App – My Fitness Pal This clever little app is great for calorie counting, you put in your height, current weight, target weight and when you want to reach your goal. This App tells you how many calories a day you should be eating and you can scan the barcodes or anything you eat and it will add it to your diary with all the nutritional details of the food making it easier not to go over your recommended daily calorie intake.
Exercise
Walk– Walking is a great form of exercise and its free too. Before using your car ask yourself, could I walk instead? Arrange to go for a weekly stroll round the park with a friend or purchase a pedometer to count your steps (these can be purchased a free apps on most phones). Set yourself a daily target of steps and stick to it, walking round your house will benefit weight loss alot more than just sitting on the sofa.
Jogging/Running– These are great cardio exercises and will burn off so many calories. Get a friend involved (maybe a bridesmaid?) and go for a run when you are both free. Start small and work your way up. The hardest thing about exercise is getting yourself out there but the best thing (apart from being slimmer) is the sense of achievement you will feel after.
Helpful App – Endomondo This app tracks your walking/running using GPS. Giving you lap times and calories burned. It is a great motivator to push yourself and beat your previous times. This app also can log other activities and calories burned.
Work Out DVDS– If the thought of going to the gym really doesnt appeal or you just don’t have the time then working out a home could be what your looking for. Nowdays there are so many DVDS on offer that get results and can be done in under 30 minutes including Davina – Fit in 15 which includes 4 x 15 minute work outs, Vicky Pattison – 7 DAY SLIM which is 6 x 10 minute workouts and our personal favourite Jillian Michaels – Ripped in 30 which is 4 x 20 minute workouts.
We hope these wedding weight loss ideas help you achieve your goals
